About Us
Skylen Freet
Reel Lucky Charters is owned and operated by Skylen Freet. Sky has been a licensed US Coast Guard 6 pack captain for 25 years with 10 summers guiding in Alaska and 15 years experience as a full-time licensed guide in the Pacific Northwest targeting salmon, steelhead, and sturgeon for clients in Oregon.
Sky puts a heavy emphasis on teaching and having fun while maintaining the highest standards of ocean & river safety.

The Beginning
Sky comes from a long line of fishermen. His passion for fishing and the outdoors started at the age of 5 when his grandfather first introduced him to fishing for trout, bass, panfish, and muskies. He spent his childhood learning to fish from his uncle when he wasn’t out commercial fishing.
By the age of 12, Sky was running his first boat, a 1963 Crestliner with a 35 hp Johnson Super Sea-Horse motor on the back. Taking his family and friends out and teaching them to fish quickly became his favorite thing to do.
In June of 2000 Sky started guiding out of a 5 star fly-out fishing lodge near Denali Nat’l Park in the remote bush of southcentral Alaska. In winter he would spend his time floating the wild & scenic Sandy River in northwest Oregon in search of chrome bright winter steelhead.
In April of 2005 he established Skylen Freet Guided Sportfishing LLC and started guiding professionally in Oregon under the name Sky’s Guide Service. For the next 15 years Sky ran jet sled and drift boat trips in the Columbia River Gorge, Portland area, and the Oregon coast. Sky has spent the last several years learning to fish pelagic species in Hawaii.

Today Sky operates Reel Lucky Charters based on the beautiful north Oregon coast. At Reel Lucky Charters we fish 3 locations: the Columbia River, Tillamook Bay and Nehalem Bay. While geographically separated by only 50 miles, each place is uniquely different and offers a fishing experience distinct to Oregon.

Reel Lucky Charters has just finished building a brand new custom 28’ Willie Nemesis guide boat. We spared no expense on this build. Every inch of this boat has been meticulously crafted by master builders with Willie Boats, manufacturer of the finest all welded aluminum fishing boats in the world.
